Alex's research interests include how the built environment impacts health, particularly for immigrant and refugee populations. Her dissertation focuses on outcomes for refugees in major resettlement cities in the US. Currently, Alex is President of UPDoc, the doctoral student group, where she organizes professional development workshops. She also piloted the Taubman College PhD Pathways program, which aims to diversify faculty in the fields of urban planning and architecture.
