On this week's Public Good radio show, we're speaking with researcher Steve Hart about his PPG policy brief on the NY Release Program for People Incarcerated on Charges of Technical Parole Violations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, Governor Cuomo ordered the release of people accused of technical parole violations and waiting in county jails for a parole revocation hearing. The Department of Corrections and Community Services (DOCCS), however, released only 38% of them, leaving over 1,000 people incarcerated and in danger across the state. We're discussing the poor implementation of the program with Steve, and we're also joined by a Buffalo resident who could have qualified for the release program, but who was in the Holding Center throughout the COVID-19 pandemic until he was released in December.
