2021 Community Agenda Rollout

Join us for the virtual 2021 Community Agenda Rollout on January 14, 2021 at 9:30am. Register to join us at bit.ly/CommunityAgenda.

Partnership for the Public Good (PPG) unites over 300 community groups working for a better Buffalo Niagara – ranging from large social service agencies like Evergreen Health to neighborhood groups like the Greater East Side Field of Dreams block club, from arts organizations like Ujima Theater to environmental advocates like the Our Outer Harbor coalition.

Each year, we invite our growing network of partners to develop proposals for ways to change local or state policies to advance equality, sustainability, and cultural vibrancy in the Buffalo Niagara region. The partners take a vote, and the top ten proposals become the focus of PPG's work for the coming year. This year’s Agenda addresses important topics such as vacant land, language access, home ownership, and police oversight.

At the rollout event, an advocate for each proposed policy will share why it matters for our city and region. These speakers include Kartika Carr of VOICE Buffalo on alternative methods of responding to mental health crises; Jeanette Koncikowski of Grassroots Gardens of WNY on using vacant public land for the public’s benefit in Buffalo; Alyssa Cardina of Journey’s End Refugee Services on how to improve language access practices in Erie County; Ahmed Nieves of Buffalo Information Sharing Collective on promoting local home ownership by changing the Buffalo property auction, and more!

Elected officials will voice their support for agenda items, including Erie County Legislature Chair April Baskin, Buffalo Common Councilmember David Rivera, NYS Assemblymember Karen McMahon, NYS Assemblymember Monica Wallace, and NYS Senator Sean Ryan.

This event is free and open to the public.
