The PANTHFRICA Art Exhibit Opening Reception will take place at Buffalo Arts Studio on Friday, February 9 from 5-8pm to kick-off PANTHFRICA celebrations. Buffalo Arts Studio (BAS) is located in the Tri-Main Building, Suite 500, 2495 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14214.
To create art for the exhibit, Buffalo youth (ages 10 to 20) have attended three public workshops at MAP/PUSH, BCAT, and BAS.
PANTHFRICA is a vision for a beautiful future. We have engaged Buffalo youth and the general public in creating art that reflects the Afro-futurist view of a powerful, heroic future for people of color; artwork that honors ancestors and elders while celebrating diverse traditions and cultures. The youth attended three public workshops where they were encouraged to consider how they see themselves, their ancestors, their community, and the city through the Afro-futurist lens.
You can come see the art that has been created at the Opening Reception next Friday. This is an important kick-off event for the PANTHFRICA celebrations.
