Leveling the Playing Field: Ensuring the New Buffalo Bills Stadium Benefits Communities Across Erie County

Take part in our lunchtime workshop to learn about and discuss a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) for the new Buffalo Bills stadium.

Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs) are project-specific contracts reached between major project developers and community groups. They can ensure that public dollars (often invested in projects such as hospitals, sports arenas, and redevelopment) bring public benefits.

In recent years, local coalitions have worked to maximize public benefits at the Buffalo waterfront and the Buffalo Niagara medical campus. Now, many of our partners are turning their attention to negotiations for a new Buffalo Bills Stadium. With up to $1 billion in taxpayer funding being discussed, community members deserve a seat at the table.

This one-hour workshop will provide an overview of CBA commitments from arena and stadium deals in other communities, share what priorities our partners have raised for a Buffalo Bills CBA, and offer key lessons from twenty years of CBA campaigns across the country. Participants will be invited to share their priorities and ideas for what should be included in a Bills stadium CBA.

Speakers will include Andrea Ó Súilleabháin, PPG Executive Director, and John Goldstein, Founder of Coalitions, Campaigns and Community Benefits.

This workshop is co-sponsored by Partnership for the Public Good, Buffalo Commons, the Coalition for Economic Justice, and VOICE Buffalo.
