Two Generation Approaches for Immigrant Families

The New York Immigration Coalition, hosted by the Partnership for Public Good, would like to invite you to join us at a convening on Two Generation Education on May 17th at 12:30PM at 617 Main St Suite 300, Buffalo, NY 14203. Lunch will be provided.

Two Generation approaches are key to ensuring young children reap the full potential of early childhood programs and that parents are able to not only fully engage in their child’s education, but also further their own skills and development. As part of an exciting new project the NYIC is working on with the Annie E. Casey foundation, the NYIC is holding a convening to explore two generation approaches to education for immigrant families.

This convening will be an opportunity to share successful approaches to serving immigrant families in a more holistic and integrated way as well as explore the gaps in funding and service that are preventing programs from supporting a two generation approach to their work. We invite both those who run two generation programs as well as those programs who may only have some of the components in place, but are interested in this approach. Relevant programs include, but are not limited to: Home Visiting, Early Childhood Education, Adult Literacy and Education, Parent engagement programs, Settlement Houses, and programs with explicitly multi-generation approaches.
