Erie County officials want to spend over $200 million planning and constructing a new county jail. In Erie County, a jail sentence becomes a death sentence every six months.

Instead, No New Jail Roundtable members recommend investing this money in community solutions - mental health and substance use treatment, youth programs, housing, education, and all the other things we know keep us safe.

On this episode of The Public Good, we're joined by members of the No New Jail Roundtable Phylicia Brown, Director of Black Love Resists In the Rust, and Colleen Kristich, Community Researcher at PPG. Listen to their overview of what Erie County is planning, what should be done instead, and about an upcoming opportunity to make your voices heard at a community event.
