10th Annual World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day is a global initiative by the United Nations honoring the courage, resilience and strength of refugees and displaced persons who are forced to flee their homes due to fear of persecution or to escape disasters.

Community volunteers invite everyone in WNY to an event including men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, cultural performances and tabling by communities, kids activities, a women’s resource tent, and a free lunch prepared by community members (shared on a first come, first serve basis). 

Saturday, June 29

Men's Soccer: 8:30am-8:30pm
Women's Volleyball: 8am-2pm


Sunday, June 30 (Main Event)

Soccer: 9am-12pm, 2pm-6pm; Trophies at 6:30pm
Food: 12pm-2pm; Speeches: 1pm
Kids & Women's Tents: 10am-6pm
Cultural Performances: 10am-6pm
Cultural Sharing Tables: 3pm-4pm

The event will take place at Lasalle Park (parking/shuttle at Front Park) and is free and open to the public.
