Join us on The Public Good. This week we’re talking with Jennifer Connor, Executive Director of Justice for Migrant Families, along with Esther Saidat, JFMF Board Member.

Justice for Migrant Families is a nonprofit that promotes justice for migrant families by providing support to individuals in the federal detention facility in Batavia, information and resources to families in the community, and advocacy both within and beyond the local community.

They’ll go over the context of Buffalo as a border city and what this means for immigration enforcement, the differences between jails/prisons and detention facilities, and what the detention process is like. They share challenges with the detention experience and the legal, emotional, and financial implications for immigrants and their families. They also talk about their advocacy, both short-term and long-term and share ways to get involved.
