Join us on The Public Good. This week’s guest is Leah Angel Daniels, Founder and CEO of Fostering Greatness, Inc.

The fourth item on the PPG's 2022 Community Agenda is The Forgotten Population: Foster Care Youth, Young Adults, and Alumni, on which Fostering Greatness is a leading partner. This agenda item calls on the City of Buffalo to ensure special access to city services for young people who recently graduated from foster care. Young adults who have aged out of the foster care system are among the most underserved and underrepresented populations in our city. Once they transition out of the County foster care system, the City could offer specialized support through its youth services department, housing support services and funding, and employment programs, for example. This will help foster care alumni to receive the resources, skills training, and assistance they need to live full, sustainable, and successful lives.

Daniels will be discussing Fostering Greatness’ work toward advancing this agenda item, including what’s been done so far and next steps toward achieving the agenda item’s goal.

Fostering Greatness’ goal is to assist transitioning foster care youth, young adults, and alumni of color with life skills, housing stability, education, and career advancement, personal and professional development, leadership development, and full-time optimal health management. Daniels is an alumna of foster care and has founded and developed Fostering Greatness along with other foster care alumni through firsthand experience of the foster care system.
