Join us on The Public Good. Our guests this week are Brian Brown, Production Manager, and Sam Magavern, Executive Producer, with the Calamus Project.

Calamus is a sequence of 45 poems that Walt Whitman wrote in the late 1850s about camaraderie, friendship, and love among men. The Calamus Project is a collaboration of many partners dedicated to presenting Whitman’s Calamus poems in an engaging way through films, programs, and this website. The website includes films of each poem performed by Ujima Company at Buffalo’s historic Silo City. It features additional resources such as commentaries, alternate versions, and a bibliography.

Brian and Sam will be discussing the purpose of the project, the project's journey, and what's next for the Calamus Project.
