This year, the Language Access Working Group is advocating for a county-wide law to expand language access in Erie County. This will ensure that all residents of Erie County have equal access to medical care, government services, civic participation, education and training, jobs, and public safety services.

The Language Access Working Group includes the New York Immigration Coalition, the International Institute of Buffalo, Journey's End Refugee Services, Burmese Community Services, Center for Elder Law and Justice, the Immigrant and Refugee Research Institute, and Partnership for the Public Good.

In the weeks ahead, we will be advocating for the Erie County Legislature to adopt a language access law. We need you to get involved!

1. Join the coalition call on 9/24 from 5:30-7:00pm where we will discuss what language access is like now in Erie County, and how a local law would improve access and services for residents. We will also plan together how to pass this law in Erie County. Join the call on September 24 at 5:30pm at this link (http://bit.ly/languageaccess-eriecounty).

Please help us get the word out about this meeting, and share this page with other organizations and community leaders.

2. If you are part of a community organization or non-profit, add your support by signing the organizational sign-on letter. Review the letter and add your organizational sign-on here.
