Community-university partnerships are gaining momentum across the country. What challenges and opportunities do these partnerships face as they collaboratively explore solutions to local or global issues? How do you do it 'right'? Learn about tools and approaches--for universities and community partners--to advance relationships, mutual understanding, and positive outcomes for all participants.
Join us for a dialogue with national expert, Dr. Richard Kiely Senior Fellow, Office of Engagement Initiatives Cornell University.
He will discuss key concepts and practices from his new book, Community-Based Global Learning: The Theory and Practice of Ethical Engagement at Home and Abroad.

University-Community Partnership Dinner Workshop will be geared toward researchers, academics, students, faculty/staff. Dinner will be available at 5:30 with a brief presentation about Buffalo Commons opportunities. Dr. Kiely will begin sharing at 6pm. Thursday, October 18, 2018 @ 5:30-7:15pm.
University-Community Partnership Breakfast Workshop will be geared toward organizations, groups and community members. A light breakfast will be available at 9am. Friday, October 19, 2018 @ 9:00-10:30am.
Buffalo Commons is launching three series of educational programs that share knowledge for the public good on topics ranging from civic engagement and local policy to best practices in community-based research. Each series has a unique goal, topic, and audience.
Civic Engagement Workshops: A series identifying and understanding what role individuals, organizations, and institutions can play in shaping policies and practices and making positive changes in our communities.
Learning Labs: A series exploring community and researcher partnerships for progress in real civic issues through our core issue areas.
Scholar-Activist Forums: A series developing a network between and amongst partners, researchers, and scholars by spotlighting diverse, innovative voices who are building more just, sustainable, and culturally vibrant communities.
