What can make Buffalo more equitable and sustainable? How can city government function more effectively and transparently? Sam Magavern, Senior Policy Fellow at PPG, and 12 UB Law students present on these questions:

Free Buses. Should some or all of NFTA’s buses be free?

Public Advocate. Should Buffalo have a public advocate, as New York City has?

Fair Housing. With the federal government abandoning the field, what can the State of New York do to affirmatively further fair housing?

Take Back the Water. Should the Buffalo Water Authority take back management of its drinking water system from the multinational for-profit company, Veolia?

Landlord Accountability. Should the City of Buffalo use administrative hearings instead of Housing Court to enforce its housing code? Should it add unpaid housing fees to a landlord’s property taxes?

Vacant Lots. Should Buffalo impose escalating fees on vacant lots to encourage their redevelopment?

Land Banks. What effect does the US Supreme Court case Tyler v. Hennepin have on the ability of land banks to recycle and improve foreclosed properties?

Charter Revision. As Buffalo reviews its charter for the first time in decades, what lessons can we learn from the 1999 charter revision? Should the charter itself include a regular process for charter revision?

Labor Peace. Should economic development projects that receive public money be required to abide by labor peace provisions that prevent union-busting by management?

Property Taxes. Should Buffalo let residents pay property taxes in three or more installments?

Community Benefits. Should the State of New York pass legislation requiring higher standards for MWBE participation and community benefits, and creating a compliance board to enforce them?
