The workshop will:

(a.) introduce key concepts and principles of the Just Transition ecological justice framework
(b.) identify "the bad" that we're trying to stop and root it in people's direct and indirect experiences (e.g., how hurricanes Irma and Maria affected families in Puerto Rico) and local context;
(c.) review basic pieces of the NY renews platform and how if enacted they would shore up the pillars of regenerative economies across NYS;
(d.) offer breakout sessions to do some reflecting and visioning around a 100% Buffalo platform that localizes key provisions in NY Renews - office of Climate Justice and Just Transitions at City Hall; an equity and environmental justice screen that filters investment and resource decisions by city and county officials; city and county emission reduction goals; drawing down power from investor owned utilities in our region; etc.
