Each week, PPG summarizes important takeaways from the major Buffalo Common Council meetings. We also include information from council meetings related to our Community Agenda items. If you want to learn more about how the council meetings work and how you can get involved, check out our guide.

For this summary, we will report on the Caucus and Regular meetings. ‘Council Member’ is abbreviated as CM; ‘Council President’ as CP; and ‘Majority Leader’ as ML.

In the Caucus meeting, council members planned to send items onto various committees for further discussion. These included an item about funding renovations to bring fire halls into compliance with gender neutral regulations, as well as notice about an upcoming Education Committee meeting at which school suspension policies will be discussed. This will be on January 30, 2024, at 5:30pm.

During the Regular meeting, the Council sent a proposed Short Term Rental Ordinance to committee for further consideration. This will be discussed at the upcoming Legislative Committee meeting.
