Over the next few months, PPG is hosting Buffalo Common Council members on The Public Good as they discuss their goals and plans for the upcoming year.
This week on The Public Good, we feature Council Member Rasheed Wyatt of the University District.
Council Member Wyatt earned an associate degree in accounting from Kensington Business Institute and a bachelor’s in business resource development from Medaille College. He is a former chief of staff for the Council and has extensive professional experience in finance and banking. He has served on the Common Council since 2015.
The University District encompasses parts of North Buffalo, University Heights, University at Buffalo South Campus, Lasalle, and Kensington. A majority (63%) of University District residents identify as Black or African American while about a quarter identify as white. Community landmarks include Gloria J. Parks Community Center, University at Buffalo South Campus, the Bailey Avenue Business District, and Shoshone Park.
This episode is part of an ongoing series Common Council Conversations, where members of the Buffalo Common Council discuss what's going on in their district and priorities for the coming year.
The series will allow Buffalo residents to hear from their council members on these important topics and hear more about what’s going on in districts across the city.
